Fertility Calendar

Description

This fertility calendar allows you to calculate your most fertile days for your next menstrual cycles. It also shows the expected dates of ovulation and of beginning of the next periods.

The application is based on the idea that the fertile window is usually the six-day interval ending on the day of ovulation. The fertile window is the time in a cycle when pregnancy can occur. The ovulation, on the other hand, is expected to occur 14 days before next period. That means that intercourse is most likely to result in pregnancy if it occurs within the six-day interval ending the day of ovulation.

The chance of getting pregnant is shown for each fertile day, according to the study carried out by Allen J. Wilcox. This study was published on The New England Journal of Medicine on december the seventh, 1995 (N Engl J Med 1995; 333:1517-1521).

According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the highest pregnancy rates are seen when a couple has intercourse every 1-2 days during the fertile window. The fertile window is the time in a cycle when pregnancy can occur and is usually the six-day interval ending on the day of ovulation. In particular, the chances of getting pregnant are:

  • 10% if you have intercourse on the 5th day before the ovulation day.
  • 16% if you have intercourse on the 4th day before the ovulation day.
  • 14% if you have intercourse on the 3rd day before the ovulation day.
  • 27% if you have intercourse on the 2nd day before the ovulation day.
  • 31% if you have intercourse on the day before the ovulation day.
  • 33% if you have intercourse on the ovulation day.
